Car crash while on holiday

April 28th, 2010

We have a pact with our friends to call each other when we get home from events or holidays that we have been on together, to check everyone gets home safely. Last week we were on Holiday in the Lake District with a few other couples and ‘call me when you get in’ were the parting words.  We had decided to stop off in Manchester, as we have been before, it was on the way and we really like the area. The shops span the entire range from, the high street norm to top end boutiques and extensive markets.

One of the other couples were visiting family in the peak district and the final couple planned to head straight home to pick up their dog from the kennels. It was early evening by the time we got home and we expected to have a few messages from the others as we figured we would be the last ones home.  This was unfortunately not the case.

The people who were heading off first had not gone far before they ran into the back of another car on a country lane.  Apparently the car in front broke sharply but the brake lights didn’t come on.  Over the last few years there has been an increase in people causing car accidents on purpose so that they can claim the compensation.

Luckily my friends weren’t hurt physically, but financially they could be very hurt.  Not only will they have to pay on their car issuance, face an increase rise on insurance cost but there is a possibility that they will also be sued for personal injury.

With car issuance fraud becoming more of a problem, it is important to protect yourself, always keep your distance and if you can afford it purchase a camera for your car which records and saves events, it will be money well spent if this happens to you.
