must dos before you die

September 4th, 2009

I got sent a list of 50 things to do before you die… problem is a generic list of things that the author wants to do someday is quite pointless.  Half the things I have no wish to do, some depend on other factors, like having children (which many people choose not to do) and others seem like a waste of time and/or money and things like ‘spend 24 hours alone in a jungle’ are just dangerous.  The thing is, the things I always wanted to do when I was 15 (ten years ago) are very different to the things I want now.  I decided to compile my own list of sensible goals to achieve within the next 5 years, personal to me.

Turns out it is quite a short list…

1.  I want to change my career, to something that I can stay in for the remainder of my working life.  I have changed a lot, and would like the stability and promotional prospects of a good career.

2.  I would quite like to start a family; the way we are with our kitten and seeing the little ones that our friends have had, has made me want to take that step.

3. I want to be able to cook a really tasty curry using authentic ingredients from scratch.  No packets or sauces.

4.  I want to finish decorating my house by putting in a new bathroom suite and bathroom furniture.

5.  Look into increasing the ethical value of my home; maybe add some solar power or something.

That really is about it, I will embrace any opportunity that arises in my life in addition to these things (for those that haven’t read the blog about this, my new years resolution for the past few years has been to say yes more and try more new things).  If someone asked me to go sky diving with them, I would, no question as long as I have the money, (one of my friends said that for some opportunities they would even sell their property to get the cash from their home in order to do them.  I wouldn’t go that far).  Besides I don’t intend to die anytime soon.
