I walked down to the pub for the first time since I moved in, and it is the first time I have walked down the road in that direction. I was shocked to find that I could see the whole of my garden open to the road. I started to look at how our garden security could be improved.
We had to decide how to improve the security in an affordable way. I looked into getting a fence to block off the back section of the garden but shopping around and buying the cheapest would still cost over £500 pounds. At the moment that is no where near affordable. I even looked into buying my own fence panels to save money but I cannot find a good instruction website that will allow me to make fence panels to fit concrete posts.
My next idea came from when shopping from Aldi. I love Aldi for the range of items they keep down the centre of the stores. You can buy pretty much anything at some point. We were in the shop and came across a camera that records CCTV. Perfect to improve the garden security. It had night vision and connects to the TV so I can make my own little security CCTV system. I like this idea because we have had a few problems with kids running down the side of the house and messing around where we can’t see them. My sister has a fake security camera on the back of the house which was there when she first moved in. She doesn’t like it but its high up on the wall and difficult to reach so I guess it is going to stay there. I don’t think it is very effective as it looks very fake, I noticed it wasn’t real straight away and I don’t make a habit of working out if a camera is fake or not.
The other option is to get a security flood light that comes on when some one walks past. There was one on the back when we first moved in but we disconnected it as it was wire up very strangely, with the wire going through two rooms before going into an inaccessible part of the loft. As a cheap solution I think I am going to try and reconnect the light to see if it works, if not it’s off to Aldi.
