Inspection of our decorating

My parents in law have been today to look around our house.  It was quite tense, as they own the majority of it, having forked out the amount we needed as a mortgage.  They haven’t been for months, thanks to my wife negotiating skills… and it’s a good job too because it’s looked like a bombs hit it for ages.  Basically we took everything out of our undecorated living room and distributed it…everywhere else. Anyway it’s now done, everything’s clean, decorated and tidy, it really does look like a show house.

 

My gran in law came with them to visit, she is a stickler for perfection, basically she doesn’t own something it if its not the best quality possible, however, we fooled her well, she loved it and insists that we should put the house on the market immediately and get the money out of it… a good idea, I suppose, if I wasn’t ready to collapse… I only just have the house I wanted, I’m not about to trade it in yet!

 

I think that my parents in law really should sell up and buy something smaller, they live in a very large, old house, with very little in the way of insulation, it costs them a fortune. They could buy a small place with less bedrooms, better living costs, and spend more time on holiday.  The other option would be to remortgage their house and get the benefit that way. I have a friend who works in a bank and he said that the news on remortgages is, there has been a significant rise in the past few months and I’m actually really glad there has been… I think that 60-somthings should be cashing in their hard earnt cash for what they want for a change … Lets face it, if they don’t do that, long awaited cruise now, when will they.
