Finally finished the house

Woo hoo I have finally finished my living room.  It has been a long time coming with lots of set backs but I think it was worth it.  It is only the second room in the house that we got to do ourselves.  Because my parents in laws helped us buy the house they were trying to look after their investment and painted the other rooms in the beige that’s used in the show rooms.

We were pretty stuck on the colours to use in the living room but in the end we went for a lilac on three of the walls and a really dark purple on the forth wall.  We stole the look from a B&Q colours magazine that we picked up in store and I am glad we found it because we would probably be still picking out the colours now.

I promised myself that once it was finished I would have a break from the DIY but I have already been looking at stuff for the bathroom.  Last time I was in Wickes I saw some shower with enclosures that looked really nice that were in the sale.  We want to change the bathroom suite when we do the bathroom as well as re-tiling the walls.

When we first moved in I made sure one of the first things we had installed was an electric shower.  There was one already there but it constantly dripped water from the box where all the electrics were kept which didn’t seem very good.

With the tiling I am going to try something new.  We go to Whitby a lot and get a lucky duck every time we go.  I am going to have a go at putting the ducks into the wall.  I have seen the tiles that have a square cut out of the middle that you then replace with a coloured square.  I have  hoping that If I find a clear glass centre I will be able to cut out some of the plaster to give enough room to stand one of the ducks in the centre when put the clear glass tile over the top.  I think it will be difficult but worth it in the end.
