I found out that one of my friends has an account on a mobile tracker site. It is strange to think that any one that knows my mobile number can type it into a website and find my location to within 10 metres. I have had a bit of a look and they send text messages to the tracked mobile periodically, but I don’t know if all sites will. Not only is it scare to think you can be followed but its going to ruin hide and seek.
It makes me wonder how many other ways people can invade your privacy. I know that there is always the constant barrage of people trying to steal your online identity; in my junk mail folder I have a whole host of emails from different banks urgently needing my bank details. You also hear about the Government tapping phones and having secret listening devices in lamp posts, well with advances in technology I guess that the equipment you need is open to the public. I have the KX Panasonic phone; its decent phone so I guess the signal will be encrypted but can people tap into the signal of wireless phones or even your normal telephone?
I am sure that there will be monitoring though the telecommunications companies, you always hear about phone calls being screened for key words so who knows if they are carrying out logging on your call.
On my way home tonight I saw 3 CCTV cameras held high up on posts to catch anyone parking in the wrong place or using the bus lane, for the three I saw I guess there was 10 times the number I did see.
It seems like people are constantly inventing new ways to monitor us. Next it will be ID cards, they are going to be voluntary, but I am sure that they will make it so we have to have them. Either you have to have an Identity card to get a job, tax your car, or probably to leave your house.
