Our kitten is pretty much sorted now. He has had all his vaccinations, his second set was last night, and he has also been micro chipped. The microchip needle is very scary, the needle looked to be 4mm wide, I would not want to be injected with it the size I am and he’s tiny. The vet we went to see was amazing, you could tell he loves animals and that he really cared. He gave Cumin loads of fuss and a little bit of food to eat to distract him. The microchip seems like a brilliant idea, it gives your animal a unique number which is linked to your details so if every your animal is found its owner can be easily traced.
It made me think that everyone with a cat or dog should legally have to microchip their pets. It would mean than people would not be able to abandon their pets without any consequences. If any pets were found obviously abandoned then they could be prosecuted.
The one problem we have at the moment with Cumin is toilet training. He is very resistant to actually going in his litter tray. We think we have made a break through when he goes for a wee in the litter tray when we get home. After that he just goes where ever he can hide it. Behind the sofa, behind the TV, under the coffee table, as long as he is not near the litter tray.
The one good thing about our vets is it offers every service I can think of they even have a behaviourist that will give us advice, I am going to ring next week to see what advice they have. Until then I am going to spend a few house blocking up access to his favourite areas.
