I decided I needed a new phone for the house. So I went shopping for a phone that has an answer phone built in. I would have liked a cordless phone but that has been disallowed because my wife doesn’t like them. I also want a phone system installed so we can have more than one phone throughout the house, at the moment if you hear the phone you have to sprint to the phone to catch it in time.
The home phone is one piece of technology that has not advanced as quickly as most other areas, like the mobile phone. But this is set to change with T Mobile looking to upgrade our home phones with mobile phone software. They will give the home phone the same operating system as mobile phones, so home phones will have all the same functions. With it it’s sure to bring a wealth of new gadgets you never knew that you needed until you were told you did.
I can see the point of the software on a mobile. They are designed to be used outside the house where you don’t have access to all the technology you have in the house. I think access to the internet is invaluable as you can check your emails and find you way with the mobile version of Google maps.
I am not very sure how useful it will be on a home phone, when you are at home you already have high speed access to the Internet, and with that come the option to send SMS messages for free and access to your email. Do we really need our home phones to do for us what our computers already do.
I guess it coming whether I like it or not, but I’m sticking with the normal version.
