Windows 7 to go touch screen

March 26th, 2009

It looks as though Microsoft are really pushing on their touch screen technology, with the news that a lot of touch functionality will be built into Windows 7.

Microsoft are already pushing on the new surface interface, with Tesco opting to stock them, but as a new technology it’s going to take a while for the hardware upgrade to become mainstream among the shopping public.

While Apple’s iPhone has used touchscreen technology as a major part of its design, and continues to improve, it’ll be interesting to see whether touch screen will even be user-friendly on the home PC.

After all, we’re already supposed to be sat a good metre away from the screen. So if we need to sit closer, doesn’t that mean potential eye strain issues? This is especially when Apple are talking about adding touchscreen functionality into Snow Leopard, which may not be good news for iMac owners with the 24″ widescreen and it’s ultra bright display!
